Riverside audio trail

The trail starts at Hertford Museum. If you’re joining part-way through, or listening from home, start with track 1 for an introduction.

Track 1 Audio Transcript

Thank you for joining us to hear the artist Alice Blackstock read “Can you draw a river?”

Before we begin please make sure you keep alert for cars along the first part of the trail. Now, with your back to the museum, turn right and walk on towards the bridge.

As we walk to the next point, just ahead of us, I will introduce the project.

In spring 2024 the Ripple Effect project, led by Drawing Voices and artist Alice Blackstock with Hertswise Dementia services, engaged three Hertfordshire communities in creating the large textile artwork Can You Draw a River?

This riverside audio trail is a soundscape of creative writing to accompany the visual work. It captures the collective and personal expressions woven into this artwork, celebrating a shared voice for those affected by dementia.

Trigger warning This audio contains reference to the loss of a loved one to dementia.
